BRADWELL SPORTS CLUB

Festival of Fooball

The second Bradwell Festival of Football took place in July. This event was supported by Grants from Acclaim Housing Group and Councillor Twigs’ Leadership fund. The morning saw many children from the Hope Valley taking part in the training sessions run by UK Sports Coaching.

There were tournaments in the afternoon for all ages, the trophies won by our Senior and Junior Clubs this season were on display together with the photo memorabilia we have collected, a bar and BBQ, tea and cakes and other games and stalls ensured this was a great day out and was enjoyed by many.

Well done to all our competitors and especially the winners. Also big thanks to all that helped make the day such a success

For more photos of the event and to keep up to date with all our activities please go the Bradwell Sports Club Facebook page or visit our website bradwellsports@yahoo.co.uk

BRADWELL BOWLS CLUB
Hi everyone just to let you all know that on Sunday the 9th September we held our annual Charity day, which was won by Jackie Buxton & Paul Walton of Chapel Park Bowling Club. The day was sponsored by Jez & Karen from Ye Old Bowling Green Inn. We had a great day with some exceptionally good bowling and the weather was very kind. The day raised £720-00 which will be donated to Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance.

We played our last Tuesday League match on the 4th September. The club had a successful year with the "A" team being promoted to division 1 next season, and the "B" just missing out on promotion. The last Thursday League match was on the 6th September and both teams did very well during the season.
The Bowling Green closed on the 26th September so that work could be carried out before the bad weather sets in.

On the 7th November we held our A.G.M. & presentatation evening at Ye Old Bowling Green Inn where we presented various trophies. It was very good to see that Zayne Bukhari was presented with the most improved bowler of the season. Zayne had a very successful year playing for the "B" team in the Tuesday League.
We felt we had a good turn out as there was around 35 present at the A.G.M. we all had sandwiches & chips which I am sure was enjoyed by all.
The two main items which came out of the A.G.M. was the increase in the subs from £38-00 to £40-00. Also we had two volunteers who between them took on the Fixture Secretaries roll for the 2013 season.

Both Tuesday & Thursday League got off to a cold & wet start @ the begining of April. On the 24th April from 1-00pm to 2-30pm a class from the Junior school will be attending the Bowling Green each week to learn the game of bowls. We are hoping to have a match with the school from Hathersage & or Tideswell later in the year.
